About tDCS

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive brain modulation technique that uses constant electrical currents for stimulation or inhibition of specific brain areas. A low-intensity direct current passes through two electrodes (anode and cathode) placed over the scalp in specific positions modulating neuronal activity.

In last two decades, clinical research has shown the efficacy and safety of tDCS in various neuropsychiatric conditions such as major depression, stroke, movement disorders and neuropathic pain.

tDCS is affordable, portable, well-tolerated, safe and easy-to-use method. Although still being considered as an experimental research technique, rapidly growing numbers of tDCS studies worldwide indicate that this method may become a standard treatment option for various neuropsychiatric conditions in near future.

In randomized clinical trials, tDCS showed effectivity in treatment of various neuropsychiatric conditions:

  • Depression (Level A - definitely effective)

  • Neuropathic Pain (Level B - probably effective)

  • Migraine (Level B - probably effective)

  • Fibromyalgia (Level B - probably effective)

  • Stroke (Level B - probably effective)

  • Parkinson´s Disease (Level B - probably effective)
